Senior Civil Designer
Residential & Site Development | Civil 3D Power User
The Opportunity This is a
lead designer role
supporting large-scale residential and site infrastructure projects for one of the most active development platforms in the country. You’ll be the go-to technical expert—owning design, driving standards, and mentoring others—while working closely with engineers and project managers to deliver projects that actually get built.

What You’ll Be Doing As a Senior Civil Designer, you’ll function as the
technical backbone
of project teams, leading design from concept through final deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
Serve as
lead designer
on residential and site infrastructure projects
Develop, modify, and review
Civil 3D models, grading plans, drainage, and utility layouts
Apply advanced
CAD standards and Civil 3D functionality
to produce high-quality, consistent deliverables
Interpret project criteria and coordinate with Engineers, Designers, Technicians, and subconsultants
Plan, schedule, and coordinate the technical aspects of multiple projects simultaneously
Support Project Managers with schedules, budgets, and technical input through project completion
Perform
quality control reviews
prior to external submission
Identify and resolve technical issues independently, with minimal oversight
Stay current with
local, state, and federal regulations
impacting land development projects
Mentor and train junior designers, technicians, and interns as needed
Leadership & Mentorship This role may include
supervisory responsibilities , including mentoring staff, assigning work, reviewing performance, and contributing to team development—all while maintaining high technical standards.
What They’re Looking For Required Background
Associate degree or equivalent from a technical or two-year college
Certification in CAD software with advanced
AutoCAD Civil 3D
expertise
10+ years
of CAD/Civil 3D experience
5+ years
focused on detailed land development design
Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utilities, and site constraints
Ability to lead multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Comfortable working independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Proficient with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
Preferred
GIS experience
Proven ability to train and mentor others
Willingness to continue expanding technical and leadership responsibilities
