Civil Engineering CAD Designer
Candidate will work full-time in our creative office located in Piscataway, NJ.

We are seeking a skilled
Civil Engineering Designer
(sometimes called Civil CAD Designer) with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our integrated civil engineering and architecture team focused on multi-family and commercial projects based in New Jersey. This role involves leading design and documentation efforts, coordinating with consultants and in‑house development teams, and supporting projects through all phases from concept to construction. The ideal candidate brings strong CAD skills, knowledge of local codes and zoning, and a practical understanding of how design decisions impact constructability and development goals. This is a hands‑on role with opportunities for advancement, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and professional growth.
Responsibilities Responsibilities:
Drafting of commercial/residential site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including but not limited to the following:
Utility Plans & Profiles
Grading & Drainage plans, Profiles and Cross Sections
Roadway Plans, Profiles & Cross Sections
Sketches and Exhibits as needed
Use GIS software to obtain required site images and incorporate into project drawings
Use 3rd party applications (Auto‑TURN, Photoshop, etc.) to generate drawings based on specific project requirements
Additional Skill desired:
Preparation of Concept Drawings based upon Ownership’s development objectives and conclusions of due diligence. Involves preparation of concept plan and drafting
Design of utility systems, including stormwater runoff & conveyance, sanitary sewer collection, water distribution, etc.
Soil Erosion & Sediment Control Design, including stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence.
Qualifications Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred
In lieu of degree, associate’s degree and demonstrated experience in civil design and drafting
3 - 5 years of commercial & residential site design and permitting experience
Demonstrated Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Undertraining of RSIS preferred
Foundation/geotechnical experience and understanding
Drainage Software - Storm CAD, Hydroflow, HydroCAD
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Project
Self‑starter who can work independently and with team members
Strong organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
