Concrete Superintendent Job Description Summary: The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for the daily oversight of a construction concrete project, coordinating communications among the various subcontractors/entities involved, handling issues that may occur, and dealing with any inquiries from the public, while ensuring the project is delivered safe, right within budget and on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Schedules and manages the daily operations and personnel of job site or multiple job sites to ensure production stays on target.

Schedules and coordinates inspections with the appropriate inspectors daily.

Coordinates job setup, cost, schedule, and preconstruction requirements to ensure the job gets off to a good start, is on budget, and is completed safe, right and fast.

Performs inventory, organizes, and orders materials on a daily and weekly basis.

Understands job cost and identifies and communicates variances to ensure we are on budget and build the job correctly.

Oversees safety on the jobs to ensure our team is in compliance with internal and external requirements.

Conducts weekly toolbox topic meetings.

Monitors and checks elevations of structures.

Ensures Operators & Laborers take care of their equipment to support meeting our production requirements safely, on time, and on budget.

Works with and instructs Foreman on work activities.

Serves as a representative of Kelchner to support our reputation.

Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities Manages 3 to 6 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 10 to 30 employees in the construction field. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 5 to 15 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills / Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Interprets written and/or oral orders, sketches and blueprints to coordinate activities of assigned workers, materials, equipment and tools.

Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees.

Basic Computer Skills.

Valid Driver's License with the ability to be insured by the company’s insurance and operate a company owned vehicle.

The ability to work 55 – 60 hours per week.

The ability to work Saturdays and occasionally on Sunday.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job with or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must have the ability to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for long periods. Must be able to handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis. Ability to talk and see well to distinguish between back up alarms, voices, and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job with or without reasonable accommodations, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibrations. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
