ABOUT MOSAIC FAMILY SERVICES Mosaic Family Services is a safe haven for survivors of human rights abuses including intimate partner violence and human trafficking. Mosaic provides shelter, counseling, and comprehensive social services as well as legal representation. Mosaic Family Services transforms, empowers, and rebuilds our clients’ lives through culturally competent services.
Summary The Grant Writer is responsible for conducting all activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and government sources. This position requires coordinated effort with other department and program heads to prepare, submit, and report financials and data to funders.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and government sources.
Responsible for researching, collecting data, and writing each grant.
Works with department and program managers to compile financials and data.
Manage the proposal submission process to ensure the timely submission of all required materials.
Develops and maintains a proposal calendar.
Coordinates and follows up on the progress of submitted proposals.
Develops an annual grants strategy with Senior Development and Marketing Director.
Conducts prospect research to identify, cultivate, and solicit new grants.
Works with Finance to gather information necessary to report to funders.
Complies with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
Understands institutional history and programs.
Maintains current records, including grant tracking and reporting.
Assists with other fundraising projects as requested.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in research and/or grant writing.
Strong written communication and editing skills.
Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
Attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of Dallas area foundations and corporations.
Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy.
Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Able to monitor and meet income goal.
Reside in the DFW metroplex.
Preferred
Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals.
Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
Experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
