This role is categorized as hybrid, meaning the selected candidate will be expected to work on‑site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week (or other frequency determined by their manager).

Role Summary General Motors is seeking a

Engineering Designer

to join our Engine Team and support the development of next‑generation propulsion systems. In this role, you will create high‑quality NX math models, collaborate with engineers and designers, and contribute to the design and integration of engine components and subsystems. Key Responsibilities

Develop and refine NX math models, Criteria, and Typical Sections for engine components and subsystems.

Support designers and engineers with design tasks, component requirements, and virtual integration activities.

Ensure compliance with

Design Standards ,

Best Practices , and

Global infoBOOK

modeling requirements.

Apply

DFM/DFA

and integration principles to create production‑ready component designs.

Participate in or lead design and virtual reviews.

Maintain part specifications (material, mass, and attributes) within the math model.

Perform NX Analysis with support from senior designers or the DLT; incorporate study results as needed.

Integrate component and subsystem math into full system layouts.

Provide clear, proactive communication to the Design Manager, DLT, and DRE on status, timing, and technical issues.

Release high‑quality math data on time according to program deadlines.

Stay current on product updates, CAD advancements, and design methodologies.

Share lessons learned and contribute feedback to improve team Best Practices.

Actively identify personal learning opportunities and build new skills.

Required Qualifications

2–5 years of experience

in CAD/engineering design (automotive or mechanical systems preferred).

Proficiency in

Siemens NX

and parametric modeling.

Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturability, and subsystem integration.

Mechanical Engineering degree required for direct‑hire candidates.

Strong communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Engine or propulsion component design experience.

Experience supporting CAE/analysis workflows.

Prior exposure to virtual integration or multi‑disciplinary design reviews.

Candidates from

suppliers or OEMs

with engine background are encouraged to apply.
