Labor Relations Specialist
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is recruiting for one (1) position of Labor Relations Specialist. This is an Exempt Non-Represented position. Position Title: Labor Relations Specialist Salary: $64,365.42 to $80,456.78 Annum (Pay Grade N11) Union Affiliation: Non-Represented (EXEMPT) Reports To: Chief Legal Counsel
Summary of Position: The Labor Relations Specialist (LRS) shall report directly to the Chief Legal Counsel and be responsible for maintaining effective and productive communication between RIPTA management, Employees and Union Representatives. The LRS shall be responsible for all labor-related matters, as assigned, including the investigation and disposition of disciplinary matters. The LRS will also assist the Chief Legal Counsel with policy administration, as assigned; shall act as liaison between RIPTA Management and Union Representatives concerning all matters pertaining to collective bargaining and will perform additional duties as directed by the Chief Legal Counsel in furtherance of RIPTA's mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the administration of labor relation matters and assisting with RIPTA policy administration, as assigned;
- Responsible for all hearings for disciplinary and/or grievance related matters arising from various collective bargaining agreements and acting as a Hearing Officer, rendering written decisions thereon; and/or delegating such duties;
- To ensure that all RIPTA policies and procedures, as outlined in various Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) pertaining to disciplinary actions and grievance related matters, are adhered to and enforced;
- To ensure RIPTA policies are developed in conjunction with current CBA language to ensure compliance;
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: A Bachelors degree with specialization in communication, business management, labor relations, or a closely related field; A minimum of five (5) years of employment in a professional position involving considerable responsibility in the areas of management/supervision, to include issuing disciplines and writing reviews; labor relations experience preferred; A thorough knowledge of general administration and management principles, practices and techniques, and the ability to apply said techniques in a coordinated Labor Relations program; A thorough understanding of terms, agreements and practices associated with collective bargaining agreements; A
