Position Summary

Temporary hourly‑intermittent student assistant position available in the Signal Newspaper English Department.

Start Date

Position available on or after February 1, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

Job Description/Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

Attend one‑hour training session per week with lead editor and/or faculty representative.

Produce original content (enterprise, breaking news coverage, and multimedia features).

Schedule, plan, edit and post stories from reporters and other editors.

Contribute to story budget production and update.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications :

Demonstrates writing experience.

Demonstrates general knowledge of CSU Stanislaus.

Demonstrates excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Demonstrates prior experience working in teams/groups.

Demonstrates working knowledge of AP Style.

It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent demonstrates fluency in written and spoken Spanish.

Required Qualifications :

Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.

Post‑baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

Salary Range

$16.90 per hour.
