Traveling Demolition Field Mechanic
Independence Excavating is looking for an experienced Demolition Field Mechanic, preferably someone who has a strong knowledge in highway truck experience and demolishing equipment, to join our team. This is a traveling position; you will travel job site to job site as needed.

A typical day looks like:
Performing work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of demolition specific heavy equipment under limited supervision
Diagnosing, repairing and/or rebuilding demolition equipment
Ability to switch gears with short notice, leaving one project to start another more critical
Performing inspections and preventive maintenance of demolition equipment while following company and MFG guidelines
Preparing and maintaining records and reports
May act as lead person in supervisor's absence
Other duties as requested or assigned
Do you have what it takes?
5+ years of experience and/or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance shop or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
Ability and experience diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs by following written and verbal instructions, including manufacturer's service specifications
Field fabrication
Use of diagnostic equipment, including Cat ET, John Deere Service Advisor
Extensive knowledge of Acetylene and electric arc welding, (stick and mig)
Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems
Knowledge of computer controllers
Knowledge and understanding of safety practices and procedures
Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
Knowledge of Labounty Shears is a plus
CDL B preferred, but not required
Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Willingness to work varying shifts, holidays and weekendsCommunicate effectively verbally and in writing
Occasional overtime may be necessary during peak times
Current Union Member in good status
