The Utility Locator is responsible for locating underground utilities and tracking drill heads during horizontal directional drilling (HDD) work on roadway and utility projects. This role works outdoors year‑round in active work zones installing underground fiber and cable systems. Key Responsibilities
Locate and mark underground utilities in accordance with 811/One Call requirements. Track drill heads and provide real‑time depth and alignment guidance to drill operators. Read and interpret construction plans, bore profiles, and utility markings. Assist with general underground construction labor as needed (digging, potholing, backfilling, grading, material handling). Operate basic construction equipment including plate compactors, jumping jacks, jack hammers, and air compressors. Work safely in active roadways and traffic control environments. Follow all company safety policies and industry standards. Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience locating underground utilities and drill heads. Valid Driver’s License (CDL Class A preferred). Reliable transportation. Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening, background check, and DOT physical. Safety‑conscious, dependable, and team‑oriented. Physical & Work Environment
Outdoor work in all weather conditions. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 75 lbs. Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on uneven surfaces. Moderate to loud noise; exposure to traffic and heavy equipment. EOE Statement
