Job Overview Under general supervision, conducts on-site appraisal activities of real property, gathers information related to real property (residential) and updates real property records based on on-site data obtained.

Required Qualifications Possession of a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of data processing techniques; department policies and procedures, office practices and procedures, public relations, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; interpret variety of variables in written, oral, picture or scheduled form; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; prepare concise and accurate documentation; gather, collate and classify data; work alone on most tasks; co-operate with co-workers, resolve complaints from taxpayers; demonstrate physical fitness.

Work Environment/Physical Demands Performs the essential functions in rough terrain and other hazardous environments (e.g.; mud, rain, snow, hot/cold weather, unfriendly animals, walking and measuring construction job sites, etc.)

Job Duty Name: Appraisal and/or Re-Appraisal (Residential) Data Collection Functions Description of Job Duty

Utilizes a computerized system to output documentation to be used in appraisal or re-appraisal of residential real property (e.g., maps, property print outs, sales, permits, etc)

Reviews documentation to determine accuracy and completeness

Analyzes residential / commercial sales and determines type of sale

Creates, maintains and updates real property record files

Assists taxpayers in answering value questions (e.g., methods and procedures in obtaining data and calculating values, etc.)

Determines value for tax purposes; compiles market data from research and records

Job Duty Name: On-Site Inspections Functions Description of Job Duty

Performs on-site inspections to verify accuracy of in-house data.

Travels to the real property site (Residential) to gather pertinent data (e.g., measures and confirms all structures, etc.)

Communicates with general public and property owners concerning real property related issues; (e.g., data collection, sales verification, etc.)

May be assigned to more complex assignments based on experience

Job Duty Name: Public Relations Functions Description of Job Duty

Participates in appraisal meetings with taxpayers every three (3) years

Answers and/or provides real property information to taxpayers

Explains to taxpayer methods and procedures used

Must have valid driver's license

Work Schedule Monday - Friday 7:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

Work Location Ohio Building 175 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44308 Currently located at 470 Grant St., Akron due to building construction at Ohio Building
