The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for the design and development of holistic, multi-modal best-in-class programs that align to the Healthfirst culture with an emphasis in digital transformation. The Sr. Instructional Designer will focus on leading efforts to apply design standards, learning methodologies, conducting learning analysis and the design and development for assigned projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Partner with key stakeholders and SME’s to identify learning objectives, gather requirements, define outcomes, and establish evaluation measures and success metrics.

Engage in a collaborative development process ensuring to partner with SME’s, media developers and key stakeholders as assigned to develop learning assets that align with predefined and rapidly prototyped processes and product solutions.

Design and develop learning materials for both asynchronous and synchronous training delivery.

Lead the design and development of content to support the comprehensive learning experience, including: course outlines, storyboards, facilitator guides, participant guides, exercise guides, and other content resources.

Lead the design and development of dynamic learning solutions which are engaging and creative, while maintaining the instructional integrity and validity of the solutions.

Lead the design and development of experiential learning material and training courseware, with a shift to responsive design that supports the learner in the flow of the work.

Design and develop multimedia assets with tools included in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable to supplement learning.

Collaborate with stakeholders to support iterative improvements or enhancements to learning for improved business outcomes.

Ensure materials are up to date and relevant fora seamless experience within the team and for learners (e.g., courseoutline, digital pre-work and post-work, presentation materials, handouts, communications, participantguides, job aids, leader guides, etc.).

Review content developed by peers and provide timely feedback.

Construct engaging training communications and sustainability plans that reinforce key knowledge and skill development beyond the initial courseware.

Continuously monitor and solicit feedback on all training programs and materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness, while driving enhancements for improved adoption.

Work with business leaders and project managers to meet training delivery schedules, with appropriate resourcing that meet business needs.

Keep current with training and learning industry trends, best practices, new technologies, and emerging innovations, with a recommended plan on how to leverage at Healthfirst.

Devise the optimal learning design methodologies, standards and processes to advance and evolve the overall instructional strategy determined by the Learning Community of Practice and leadership teams.

Devise a design and development approach and timeline that maximize impact per development project//asset.

Collaborate with business leaders and HR Business Partners to customize learning interventions that align with business priorities and enhance performance and outcomes.

Maintain close partnerships with stakeholders to proactively address capability building for Business Transformation efforts.

Identify and plan for access and availability of environments to support design and development projects.

Collaborate with designated individuals the use of environments, users, any data staging needs to ensure timely development of content.

Develop measures, benchmarks, or scorecards to monitor the effectiveness of efforts; apply these measures to drive progress in capability enhancement.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to peers of pedagogy specialists across business units involving writing skills, standardization and rapid development methodologies.

Lead projects and cross-functionally leverage professionals responsible for the design, development and project management of learning programs to support the business strategy and culture.

Select and manage third party contributors that seamlessly complement efforts and allow for uniform outputs.

Participate in the selection and oversight of vendors to seamlessly complement development efforts.

Conduct external research and benchmarking to ensure strategy, content and delivery model are positioned to industry trends and innovative practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field in adult learning.

Five or more years with a focus on Instructional Design experience in designing and developing content for virtual delivery across a multitude of platforms to support both synchronous and asynchronous learning.

Experience in design and development of learning using industry standard course authoring tool(s)with specific focus on adhering to design standards, and outcomes-driven learning solutions.

Demonstrated ability to design and develop innovative learning solutions that meet the needs of the organization for maximum business impact.

Experience in indirect management of cross-functional talents and vendors in development of various blended learning solutions.

Demonstrated track record of designing programs aligned to strategy to realize measurable business impact (quantifying ROI on learning initiatives, metrics).

Extensive knowledge of best practices//programs in content development, and experience applying//adapting relevant practices within the organization.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, hands‑on experience with Learning Management Systems and other tools to plan and manage learning.

Excellent project management skills and demonstrated success in managing and delivering large, innovative, multifaceted projects.

Strong planning, organizing, and execution skills.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to think strategically and critically in developing solutions to complex problems.

Ability to travel out of state, up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading instructional design efforts and talents in multi-modality learning environments.

A track record of taking initiative in transformational and dynamic environments.

Strategic thinking, creativity and flexibility in proactively addressing future challenges and opportunities specific to Healthfirst.

Experience developing style guides, storyboard templates and other learning development guidelines.

Direct experience using learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise and Captivate) and multi-media development tools (Adobe Creative Cloud suite i.e. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Audition, Media Encoder).

Experience publishing content created in course authoring tools to multiple outputs (SCORM, PDF, MP4) and uploading and testing in LMS system.

Experience with designing active engagement learning experiences to drive retention and sustainability.

Experience in healthcare-related or highly regulated industry.

Experience in change management and leadership philosophy and assessment tools with a track record of success in managing programs//processes to develop capabilities across teams.

Certifications in one or more course authoring tools and multimedia tools.

Hiring Range*

Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $83,100 - $120,360

All Other Locations (within approved locations): $73,400 - $109,225 As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
