Obsessed with newsletters – you subscribe to them, read them, analyze them, and would be excited to write one every week.
A strong, engaging short-form writer who can craft compelling newsletters and web content.
Deeply connected to the NYC LGBTQ+ local music, arts, and entertainment scene, and knows the best venues, artists, and events happening each week.
Detail-oriented and can spot typos before anyone else.
Regularly engaged in local culture and events – you go to concerts, comedy shows, festivals, and more!
Self-motivated to get the job done without someone looking over your shoulder to stay productive.
An active consumer of LGBTQ+ local and national newsletters, music blogs, and culture sites.
Comfortable working with digital tools like CMS platforms, marketing software, and analytics.
Responsibilities Include:
Add, edit, and maintain event listings on the Gay DoNYC website, ensuring we capture every LGBTQ+-friendly event in NYC with accuracy, consistency, and an always-fresh pulse on what’s happening.
Create and update ongoing content for Gay DoNYC - including event spotlights, guides, interviews, and features - with at least 12 editorial pieces per year that highlight the queer artists, venues, moments, and movements shaping NYC’s LGBTQ+ community.
Own the weekly Gay DoNYC newsletter by curating what’s worth knowing, writing fun and engaging copy, and amplifying local talent, organizers, and queer-owned businesses.
Brainstorm and shape social campaign ideas that support LGBTQ+ events, champion queer spaces, and uplift the voices and identities that make NYC’s community vibrant.
Support the partnerships team by creating community-minded content for pitches, recaps, and client campaigns - always ensuring content feels authentic to LGBTQ+ audiences.
Keep an eye on audience engagement and platform performance to help identify warm leads, potential partners, and smart opportunities for revenue growth.
