The Epic EHR Informaticist is responsible for reinforcing data driven adoption of digital functionality and workflow-based training (in-person and virtual) that promotes effective and efficient use of EHR tools, improves clinical workflows, and enhances user satisfaction. This position also plays a critical role in delivering support for new EHR functionality implementations, enhancements, and sustained use of systems across clinical and operational teams. This role combines deep knowledge of health informatics, clinical workflows, and change management to support users in achieving EHR proficiency and maximizing its value for patient care, safety, and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert on technology functionality, workflows, and best practices across clinical (acute and ambulatory), including clinically driven revenue cycle workflows
Lead and support data driven adoption initiatives, including training, go-live support, and post-implementation optimization
Leverage industry-standard efficiency and mastery metrics to proactively target end users to receive support
Partner with client delivery HI teams to design adoption initiatives that deliver high-value outcomes to clients
Partner with HI Adoption Analytics to quantify the value of at-elbow support initiatives.
Collaborate with end users and operational leaders to identify barriers to adoption and develop targeted solutions
Adapts training based on learner preferences, generational priorities, and learning barriers to individualize learning
Collaborate with Analytics Analysts to review system usage data, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
First line support for ongoing coaching and mentorship to clinical champions and super users for assigned areas
Utilizes and incorporate change management strategies to foster user engagement and sustained adoption
Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies in health informatics
Demonstrate flexibility to work varied hours, as needed
Obtains and maintains a credentialed status in assigned EHR applications, Optum technologies and others as applicable
Delivers advanced technology training programs (Mastery sessions) tailored to end user specialties and/or roles
Serve as a liaison between end-users and IT teams to report issues, gather feedback, and suggest system enhancements
Manage ServiceNow ticket queues, as applicable
Partners with HI instructional designers on development of training and communication materials for adoption and mastery programs
Deliver training and communication to end users and operational users when required for initial onboarding and continuous education, adoption, and mastery. This includes serving as a backup to HI trainers and/or instructional designers in supporting onboarding, super user training, complex project implementations, and technology changes
Training Delivery
Effectively delivers end user training following established model. Able to respond to individual needs of learners, identify learning gaps, and outline remediation plans
Training Content Improvement
Identifies training program improvements needed and collaborates with Instructional Designer to implement changes
Operational Support
Collaborates with client leaders and staff to provide education and training. Understands training needs of client users and recommends approach
Technical System Expertise
Demonstrates an understanding of Information Systems applications such as: EHR and integrated systems, ServiceNow, Learning Management System (LMS), Infor Cloud Suite, Smart Spreadsheet, etc.
Speaking And Presentation Capabilities
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate clinical workflows and governance concepts to clinical teams, technical staff, and account leadership. Deliver clear, engaging presentations that support decision-making, promote understanding of initiatives, and foster collaboration across departments
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a healthcare related field
Experience with healthcare technologies and adult education learning principles and training delivery
Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and related workflows (i.e.: Epic, Cerner etc.)
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
Ability to drive within one-hour commutable distance of Owensboro, KY
Preferred Qualifications
Proven excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
