Background The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is the world's leading non-governmental, non-profit funder of lupus research. Over the past 24 years, the LRA has invested over $284 million in lupus research. The LRA has also an established affiliate organization, Lupus Therapeutics (LT), which is responsible for the coordination, conduct and management of a North American-based clinical trial consortium, the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN).

Position Summary This is an exciting professional opportunity as you will support fundraising initiatives in our growing peer-to-peer program, which includes the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus, worldwide marathons, and DIY events. Knowledge in volunteer and peer-to-peer fundraising, digital campaigns, and relationship building are key. Engaging our passionate volunteers to fundraise their way is a chance to drive impact and grow your career in a mission-driven environment.

Peer to Peer Events: (P2P) • Assist with the growth of our DIY and P2P events. • Work closely with established volunteers and help recruit new volunteers to host community events. • Assist with the fundraising database and reporting. • Support with the expansion of our worldwide marathon efforts. • Work with IT when revisions need to be made to the website. • Assist in developing collateral and ways to promote these events. • Work with communications to find ways to recruit new volunteers to participate in the P2P program. • Develop communications for eblasts and our texting platform. • Utilize established lupus days to promote peer-to peer fundraising • Develop content and messaging that inspires individuals to become fundraisers and ambassadors • Align P2P fundraising initiatives with a broader development and advocacy strategy.

Walk Responsibilities: • Support: Plan and execute all logistics for Walk with Us to Cure Lupus. • Participant and Volunteer Recruitment: Engage individuals and teams through lunch and learns, networking, and outreach. Help recruit, train, and support event committees. Provide coaching and support to help participants succeed in their personal and team fundraising goals. • Fundraising Growth: Assist with prospecting corporate sponsorships. • Relationship Building & Collaboration: Deliver excellent customer service to participants, sponsors, donors, and volunteers. Partner with the development team on recruitment strategies, sponsor engagement and other outreach opportunities. Reporting and Evaluation for all Events • Analyze and evaluate recruitment and retention models to increase the budgeted number of teams, individual participants, and overall revenue for Walk and P2P events. • Analyze post Walk and P2P data to establish and improve program execution and to create best practices, policies, and procedures. • Assures that all leads are entered into the database, tracked for follow-up purposes.

All Staff Responsibilities: • Attend all Walks and some P2P events, informational meetings, Kick-offs, corporate info meetings, and award events as needed/assigned. • Participate in fundraising meetings and all staff meetings. • Work closely with all staff and fundraisers. • Identify opportunities for individual major gift development. • Always serve as an ambassador of the LRA. • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements: A college degree is required. Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a fundraising, non-profit environment or production coordinator role preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, multi-tasking, knowledge of social media platforms, and teamwork skills required. The ability to motivate others, think strategically, and to exhibit creativity, initiative, and attention to details in carrying out responsibilities. Proficient in using conferencing software: Teams, Zoom etc. Fundraising database experience preferred - particularly in Classy and Salesforce. Proficient in Microsoft Suite. The ability to work as a team player and manage multiple projects simultaneously. The ability to transport materials and other supplies to and from meetings. Must be located in the tri-state area. Some travel and weekends are required. The LRA main office is in New York City, and monthly visits are required if in the tri-state area. A knowledge of speaking and translating Spanish is preferred.
