Helping Hands provides HOPE and CARE through personal, trauma-informed programs to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Our programs are Trauma-Informed, Data-Driven, and Person-Centered.
We take the time to learn each individual's story and help connect them to the appropriate local resources and services to meet their unique needs. We do not duplicate available services; instead, we build strong collaborative partnerships with local programs and foster connections between participants and our community partners.
Position Summary The Kitchen Supervisor provides oversight of the Bybee Lakes HOPE Center kitchen including staff supervision, oversight of meals and general kitchen operations. The right individual for this role has a passion for helping others, is open-minded and flexible, able to problem-solve, and has excellent interpersonal skills. This role is classified as full-time hourly, $23.00 per hour. Availability for occasional evenings and weekends is required.
Duties include
Supervise kitchen staff and schedules
Oversee Hot and cold food preparation, cooking and general kitchen operations
Perform inventory, stock and maintain food and supplies
Working with local government agencies to ensure proper certification of kitchen
Attend agency and program staff meeting
Other Duties as assigned
Requirements
1-2 years experience leading/supervising kitchen operations and staff required
Oregon Food Handler’s Card
Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, staff and the general public.
Lift, push/pull, carry 50+ pounds
On feet moving around kitchen and facility for majority of shift
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
Written and verbal communication skills. Good computer skills and phone etiquette.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct or Lived Experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations.
Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and/or sexual assault
Physical/Mental Requirements
The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff, and interaction with the general public.
Work is primarily performed indoors, within an office setting, occasionally accompanied by moderate noise levels and exposure to scents.
Frequently required to sit/stand at a computer or in a stationary position.
Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, and phone.
Frequently required to move about within the facility for meetings, office equipment, and daily operations.
