The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of
Golf Course Ranger
for the Green Hill Golf Course within the Parks Department. Under the direction of the Head Golf Course Ranger, the position assists in the enforcement of golf course rules, regulations, and operational policies to effectively move players around the course. The position will be an ambassador of goodwill, through friendly and equitable enforcement of rules. This position will monitor all players on the course by checking all registration receipts, monitoring the pace of play, ensuring proper rotation and upkeep of golf carts, and informing players of breaches in course rules and regulations. Other responsibilities may include opening and closing operations and assisting with driving range monitoring, stocking and ball collections. The anticipated schedule will be approximately 4 days per week throughout the season.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
Monitor and rotate all necessary golf carts from storage area & lock storage areas for daily use and at the end of the day
Enforce golf course rules and regulations
Ensure golf carts are cleared of trash and checked for appropriate fuel levels
Keep record of carts to properly rotate fleet
Unlock front gate in the morning and lock gate at night once parking area has cleared
Coordinate weekly repair and maintenance schedule of golf carts
Mark and define course and play-restricted areas as needed
Understand golf course schedule of events
Assist in the pro‑shop as needed
Assist with driving range monitoring, stocking, and ball collections as needed
Assist in training and answering questions of ranger staff
Spread hospitality and good will to all that play at Green Hill Golf Course
Attend golf staff meetings
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General understanding of the principles of golf and golf etiquette
Knowledge of fee structures and tee time booking practices
Ability to use and operate an iPad
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with the public, patrons and staff
Ability to learn, understand, and enforce the rules and regulations of the golf course
Ability to work weekends and holidays
Ability to work all shifts between 6:00 am and dark, with availability to work weekends, holidays and evenings
Ability to work throughout the entire season (April through November)
Ability to operate a golf cart
Ability to walk upwards of a mile per shift
Ability to lift 20 pounds to shoulder height
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience with customer service
Valid MA Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Six (6) months of experience working in a customer service environment
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Golf
SALARY RANGE: $15.00 hourly, temporary, non‑benefited.
