Role Overview The
Broadcast Systems Architect 5
defines, models, and architects sophisticated broadcast systems and end‑to‑end media workflows. This role engages directly with customers and internal teams to gather requirements and translate them into conceptual designs, detailed system models, and comprehensive pricing and cost analyses. The architect develops scalable, competitive solutions that align with business goals, service‑level agreements (SLAs), and industry best practices, while contributing to the design of future broadcast platforms and service offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Lead customer‑facing technical discovery and requirements‑gathering engagements.
Develop conceptual system architectures, workflow diagrams, and integration models for complex broadcast environments.
Own the creation of
Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM)
estimates,
Bill of Materials (BOM) , and full financial models used to price services and guide engineering decisions.
Conduct detailed cost analysis and value engineering to present optimized solution options.
Architect end‑to‑end broadcast systems including
playout automation ,
Media Asset Management (MAM) , content processing, cloud broadcast environments, transport technologies, and multi‑site architectures.
Partner closely with
sales, engineering, finance, product, and operations
to ensure alignment and successful solution delivery.
Support post‑sales design transition with architectural oversight and continuity.
Maintain strong vendor relationships and evaluate platform capabilities, roadmaps, and integration suitability.
Influence the design of next‑generation platforms and long‑term technology strategy.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in broadcast master control, origination, and distribution.
Expert knowledge of broadcast specifications, standards, and operational practices.
Demonstrated ability to produce conceptual diagrams, workflow models, ROMs, BOMs, and full cost and financial models.
Strong pre‑sales architecture experience with polished customer‑facing communication skills.
Advanced understanding of
playout automation ,
MAM , content processing/transformation,
Quality Control (QC)
workflows, and
Disaster Recovery (DR)
designs.
Expertise with cloud and virtualized broadcast ecosystems.
General networking knowledge including IP transport fundamentals.
Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, actionable architectural designs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working across sales, engineering, finance, operations, and product.
Track record of architecting or influencing next‑generation broadcast platforms.
Strong industry vendor knowledge and established relationships.
Experience with both
Serial Digital Interface (SDI)
/
Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI)
and modern IP‑based media systems.
