Crate & Kids Textiles Designer
The Designer, Crate & Kids Textiles plays an integral role in shaping the future of Crate&Kids by driving innovative product design within the brand's Textile Product Design and Development team. This position is responsible for guiding, creating, and executing the design development of surface print and pattern designs for all Crate & Kids categories.
A day in the life of a designer, Kids Textiles includes:
- Working closely with the Design Director on the design and execution of unique and innovative surface designs across all categories
- Designing and developing products and artwork consistent with seasonal trends and concepts, and customer/business needs
- Managing the Design development process throughout its lifecycle, under the leadership of the Design Director
- Developing designs through hand rendering or CAD, and presenting them to internal and cross functional partners in merchandising and sourcing in the effort to be best in class brand builders
- Collaborating with design leaders across the organization to develop cohesive collections across categories
- Leading the design development of product lines into well positioned price points, contributing to successful business growth as a specialist for your specific product categories
- Leading and managing the design development process through its entire lifecycle, from concept and ideation stages, through design sketch reviews, sample reviews, product finalizations
- Leading the set-up of design, product and assortment review presentations for your specific categories in partnership with key members across merchandising and sourcing
- Collaborating with, leading and fostering the talent of a design team composed of associate and assistant designers
- Participating with other senior leaders to establish strategic creative plans and objectives
What you'll bring to the table:
- Talent and skill set to hand paint, digitally manipulate and develop original artwork
- Passion for design, style and decorating and knowledge of design and art history
- Strong color sense and affinity
- Ability to interact and collaborate with executives
- In-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies and business priorities
- Ability to make decisions on operational matters that impact the effectiveness of the area
- Ability to translate business and design objectives into strategic creative plans for team/function
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Must provide a link to portfolio (including password) on resume or provide PDF samples
- 5 years experience working in the print design, textile or fashion industry
- AA, BFA or MFA in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design or any related design field
- Experience leading team with strong communication and leadership skills
- Strong knowledge of design, art history and current fashion and home trends
- Strong technical knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Procreate for iPad
- Strong technical knowledge and experience with Textile spec creation, and digital or hand rendering essential
