Senior Pastor

Historic First Baptist Church of Washington, GA is seeking a Senior Pastor. Our curch was founded in 1827 in conjunction with Jesse Mercer, who also served as the first Pastor until 1848. Homer Grice was intrumental in founding Vacation Bible School here at FBC Washington in 1922. E.M. Bounds, author of many influential books on prayer, performed numerous prayer walks in our town of Washington, GA. However, we, as a church, do not feel as if our best days are behind us. FBC Washington currently has approximately 150 average attending Sunday morning services and an annual VBS enrollment of approximately 150 children and volunteers. We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired, infallible, sufficient and inerrant Word of God, and as the only authority for the basis and practice of faith. This church accepts "The Baptist Faith and Message 2000" as an affirmation of the Christian beliefs as taught in the Holy Bible. We are searching for a full-time spiritual leader who can develop disciples within our congregation and emphasize biblical teachings in the face of current issues.The Senior Pastor should demonstrate a God-given calling and Christlike character, reflect the heart of a faithful shepherd, and fulfill the biblical qualifications of an overseer as outlinted in 1 Timothy 3:1-3 and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
