Our expertise includes complex structural work, bridge retrofits, transit systems, and large-scale public infrastructure. We are advancing a Seismic Retrofit Project, a technically demanding and nationally significant effort to enhance the structural resilience of one of the world’s most iconic bridges.
Position Overview: When assigned to a construction project, the Estimator will report to the Project Manager or designated Deputy Project Manager. The Estimator will have a dual reporting role to the Chief Estimator (or designated Senior Estimator) based on experience.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare preliminary cost estimates/budgets/schedules
Maintain/create subcontractor/vendor bid list
Prepare accurate quantity surveys/take-offs
Solicit bid information from subs/partners/suppliers
Distribute and manage bid plans
Prepare pricing pages for Bids
Ensure Bid documents are up to date, including an addendum received, on the shared drive and sharefile for subcontractors
Delivery of bids, proposals, and prequalification to Owners
Manage, as required, WBE, DBE, SBE, and/or MBE goals during bid process
Lead detailed reviews of subcontractor’s scope and price prior to award.
Maintain excellent relationship with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best pricing, delivery, and quality.
Skills/Qualifications:
Must be self-motivated, supportive, and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
Must be able to work late hours and have flexibility during pre-submittal of bids.
Good communication skills, organization, and follow-up.
Able to demonstrate best pricing from several subcontractors.
Must be responsive to calls, texts, and emails that come in, and be able to quickly identify best pricing.
Able to understand minority goals, and calculate required pricing from specific subs.
Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite, in particular Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Must know software such as HCSS, HeavyBid, PlanSoft and other heavy civil construction bid/management tools.
Must know how to use sharefile, SharePoint, and organize estimating folders.
Be innovative and resourceful.
