Job Description:
A property and casualty insurance carrier is seeking a Large Accounts Commercial Underwriting Leader. The Large Accounts Commercial Underwriting Leader will be responsible for overseeing the operations and development of the self-contained major account unit. This multifaceted leader will provide the strategic vision to build the unit in a collaborative manner while promoting a customer-focused culture. The Large Accounts Commercial Underwriting Leader will bring impressive business management and team-building skills, with a proven ability to drive profitable growth. In addition, this leader willchampion innovative product developmentandassist in enhancing reinsurance relationships. This is a retained search.
Responsibilities:
Organizes and eventually manages an efficient self-contained underwriting unit; evaluates and manages select risks resulting in underwriting profit Handles $1 million+ accounts for special requests while improving the quality of the underwriting staff and processes; utilizes data-driven analysis to surface strategic approaches and deliver profitable growth Develops strong client relationships as a customer-facing leader; continuously evaluates and recommends actions to increase brand awareness Provides underwriting expertise with liaisons across rating, claims, processing and loss control Attracts, develops and retains qualified talent
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 10+ years of commercial multi-line underwriting experience with proficiency in property and casualty insurance; leadership experience is preferred Detailed knowledge of commercial coverage, rating, policy constructionand policy forms Demonstrated understanding of reinsurance concepts Excellent negotiation skills CPCU/CIC/CRM designations (preferred)
