Entry-Level Intellectual Property Legal Assistant (Patents)

Suiter Swantz IP is expanding, and we’re looking for an entry-level Intellectual Property Legal Assistantto join our team in Omaha, Nebraska. We’re an intellectual property boutique with about 30 employees.
Prior IP experience is a plus, but it’s not required. We are willing to train the right person and support your growth. We’re a firm that’s leaning into modern practice tools and streamlined, tech-forward workflows so comfort learning new systems and improving processes is required.
Responsibilities
Assisting with preparation and filing of documents related to U.S.foreign patent prosecution and maintenance
Supporting the team with deadline tracking and docketing, including entering new matters and keeping files up to date
Preparing routine correspondence to clients and foreign associates and helping coordinate information and signatures
Reviewing incoming USPTO communications and making sure the right items are routed, saved, and tracked
Maintaining electronic files in a consistent, easy-to-follow way
Assisting patent attorneys and paralegals with document formatting, proofreading, and filing-ready organization
Additional responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
0–2 years of legal admin/paralegal experience (or comparable deadline-driven office experience)
Interest in intellectual property, particularlypatents
Strong written communication and professional phone/email skills
Very strong attention to detail and follow-through
Comfortable working with technology and learning new tools
Calm, reliable, and organized in a fast-paced environment
Legal admin or paralegal experience is a plus, but we’ll also consider candidates coming from other deadline-driven office roles
