THE ROLE The Sales Manager plays a key role in driving revenue growth and market visibility for DeVos Place Convention Center, managing the full sales cycle for a diverse portfolio of events including private, corporate, association, community, and non-ticketed public events.

This role is responsible for identifying, securing, and converting business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients and partners, and supporting broader sales and marketing initiatives that position the venue as a premier destination. The Sales Manager works collaboratively with internal sales, operations, and event services teams, as well as external partners such as the local CVB and hospitality community, to deliver high‑quality client experiences and profitable events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales & Revenue Generation

Actively prospect, qualify, and book new business to meet or exceed annual revenue goals

Manage assigned accounts through the pre‑event sales lifecycle, from initial inquiry through contract execution and transition to Event Coordination

Develop customized proposals, rate quotes, and license agreements aligned with client needs and venue capabilities

Maintain a strong sales pipeline and accurately forecast business activity

Client Experience & Relationship Management

Serve as a primary client liaison during the pre‑event phase, delivering timely, accurate, and professional communication

Conduct site tours, pre‑event meetings, and consultations to align client expectations and event requirements

Build long‑term client relationships that support repeat business and referrals

Marketing & Business Development

Collaborate with the Director of Sales on marketing strategies, sales plans, and targeted promotional initiatives

Partner with the local CVB, hotel partners, and community organizations to grow destination‑based demand

Support event‑specific marketing efforts, including advertising and promotional campaigns when applicable

Collaboration & Team Support

Work cross‑functionally with Sales, Event Services, Operations, and Finance to ensure seamless event execution

Contribute to a team‑oriented sales culture by sharing market insights, opportunities, and best practices

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and related business applications

Ability to learn and adapt to new sales and venue management technologies

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Communications, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, hospitality, events, or a related customer‑driven industry

Experience in convention centers, venues, hotels, or live events strongly preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS Location On Site - DeVos Place

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with leadership and peers

Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules

Some travel may be required
