Job Summary

Creates graphic materials to support and promote a positive public image of the Cherokee Nation. Materials may take on a variety of forms, including advertisements, annual reports, web graphics, infographics, magazines and more. Job Duties

Meets with in‑house clients or the creative services manager to determine the scope of a project. Advises clients on strategies to reach a particular audience. Determines the visual message, look and feel the design should portray. Creates images that identify a product or convey a message. Develops graphics, visual images, logos, etc., for print products, websites, infographics, etc. Creates designs either by hand or using computer software packages. Selects colors, images, text style and layout. Magazine layout and publishing. Tracks production projects from inception to completion; projects may include brochures, informational flyers, event programs and invitations, t-shirts, advertisements, graphics for web publications and other projects as needed. Performs photography as needed, including studio work. Presents the design to clients or the creative services manager for approval. Incorporates changes recommended by the client and/or the creative services manager into the final design. Reviews designs for errors, typos, branding compliance, etc., before printing or publishing. Maintains compliance with Cherokee Nation identity standards. Maintains high quality and design standards. Maintains and updates graphic and image databases. Other duties may be assigned. No supervisory responsibility. Qualifications

Educational Requirement

Bachelor's degree from a 4‑year college or university in Graphic Design, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations or a related field; or six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Requirement

No additional experience required. An additional six (6) months of experience or a previous internship is preferred. Portfolio required. Computer Skills

Knowledge of Graphic Design software, including Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and proficiency with Apple products and Microsoft Office Suite. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Other Qualifications

The employee must not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG), by the General Services Administration (GSA), or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Ability to prepare files for printing of written materials, t‑shirts, promotional items, posters, etc. by outside vendors. Must have knowledge and experience in marketing and advertising design and publication‑ready production. Must be able to manage multiple projects without any direct supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception. Work Environment
