Crown Court Clerks are essential to the smooth running of Crown Court hearings. They liaise confidently with judges, legal teams, and the public, produce accurate documentation, and ensure hearings are conducted efficiently. This role requires emotional resilience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive issues professionally. Key Responsibilities

Speak publicly in court and liaise with judges, defence, prosecution, media, and the public Produce accurate and timely court documents (verdicts, arraignments, orders, hearing outcomes) Ensure smooth daily operation of Crown Courts, intervening when required Motivate and support team members, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance Attend professional meetings and represent HMCTS at partnership forums Adapt to new IT systems and digital solutions as part of modernisation initiatives Candidate Requirements

Ability to motivate and support teams to deliver excellent service Confident public speaking skills in a courtroom environment Strong communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills Accuracy in producing documents to deadlines IT proficiency and adaptability to new technologies Emotional resilience and sensitivity to complex issues Working Arrangements

Standard full-time hours: 37 per week Part-time, flexible, and job‑sharing patterns considered (minimum 22.2 hours per week over 3 days) Hybrid working available (minimum 60% office‑based, UK only) Office location assigned based on nearest viable Justice Collaboration Centre or Satellite Office Visa Eligibility

This role is

not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas

under current immigration rules. Only candidates who held a Skilled Worker visa continuously prior to 22 July 2025 may be considered under transitional provisions. All applicants must have and maintain the legal right to live and work in the UK. Annual Leave:
