The Survey Designer is a highly skilled CADD professional with a comprehensive understanding of land surveying principles and drafting standards. This role serves as an advanced technical resource within the Survey Department, responsible for producing accurate, high-quality survey drawings from raw field data and supporting the work of CADD Technicians. The Survey Designer plays a key role in ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in survey deliverables, particularly for smaller or fast-paced projects requiring quick turnarounds.

Key Responsibilities

Receive, interpret, and process raw survey point data to independently draft a full range of survey deliverables, including but not limited to boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveys.

Utilize advanced CADD functions and tools to produce precise, well-organized, and professional survey drawings in accordance with company standards and project requirements.

Perform initial quality control reviews of CADD Technician work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to drafting and surveying standards.

Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to CADD Technicians as needed.

Collaborate effectively with surveyors, project managers, and management staff to meet project objectives and deadlines.

Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines and quick turnaround project needs.

Interpret plats, deeds, legal descriptions, and survey records to ensure accurate representation in drawings.

Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications

Associate degree or technical certification in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in land surveying drafting and design, with demonstrated ability to produce complete and accurate survey deliverables from raw field data.

Strong proficiency in CADD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or equivalent), including advanced drafting and design functions.

Well-rounded understanding of land surveying practices, terminology, and workflows; familiarity with civil engineering concepts preferred.

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality control.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle smaller projects requiring quick turnaround times.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply maps, plats, legal descriptions, and survey records.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with management and technical staff.

Strong work ethic, professionalism, and the ability to always represent the company in a positive and professional manner, both on and off the clock.
