Electrical Estimator / Business Development

professional to join our team.

This hybrid role blends technical estimating expertise with relationship-based business development. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience estimating industrial and commercial electrical projects

and

enjoys building partnerships, developing opportunities, and representing a trusted brand in the marketplace.

This position will

cover the Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana regions

and will work

on‑site from our office located in the WKU Innovation Campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for industrial and commercial electrical projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.

Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop detailed cost proposals.

Conduct project takeoffs, scope reviews, and value‑engineering analyses.

Collaborate closely with project managers, field leadership, and vendors to ensure proposal accuracy.

Assist in preconstruction planning, budget development, and risk assessment.

Business Development & Sales

Identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities within Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Maintain and strengthen relationships with general contractors, school districts, commercial developers, industrial clients, and high‑tech manufacturing facilities.

Represent Morton Electric at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings throughout the region.

Develop and execute sales strategies that support the company’s growth objectives and expand market presence.

Prepare and deliver professional presentations, capability statements, and bid packages.

Internal Collaboration

Work with leadership to develop pricing strategies and win themes for major opportunities.

Support marketing initiatives tied to the Morton Electric and Morton Solar brands.

Provide continuous feedback on market conditions, competitor offerings, and customer needs.

Qualifications

Preferred:

Experience in the electrical contracting industry and familiarity with projects involving

school facilities, commercial building construction, industrial clients, and high‑technology manufacturers.

3–5+ years of experience

estimating

industrial and/or commercial electrical projects

(required).

Strong understanding of NEC, electrical systems, industrial power distribution, and commercial installations.

Proven experience in

sales, business development, or client relationship management

within the construction or electrical industry.

Proficiency with estimating software and construction technology (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Conest).

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple bids at once.

Self‑motivated and driven to identify opportunities and close new business.
