Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a commercial real estate portfolio. This role partners closely with senior leadership and plays a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily accounting functions across multiple entities
  • Oversee timely and accurate month-end close, including all journal entries
  • Ensure cash transactions, transfers, and payments are properly recorded
  • Reconcile trial balance accounts; perform monthly cash reconciliations
  • Support the CFO with internal and external financial reporting
  • Coordinate year-end audits and assist with tax preparation
  • Ensure fees and revenue are recorded accurately and on time
  • Oversee investor distributions, including review, wiring, and posting
  • Maintain consistency and control of the general ledger across the portfolio
  • Participate in month-end financial review meetings with property managers
  • Reports to CFO & CEO

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, small-team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation
  • Experience with Yardi software
  • Advanced Excel capabilities

This is a high-visibility role offering direct exposure to executive leadership and meaningful involvement in portfolio-level financial management.

An excellent compensation, bonus, and benefits package will be offered to the best-qualified candidate.

Salary target in the $160k range, depending upon experience.
