Role Overview

The Senior Vice President of Multifamily Operations is a key executive leader responsible for shaping and driving the operational strategy for a large, diverse portfolio of multifamily communities. This role provides overarching leadership to regional operations teams, ensuring strong performance, consistent execution, and alignment with the organization's long‑term objectives. The SVP serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership, clients, and cross‑functional teams, using deep industry expertise, financial insight, and market awareness to guide decision‑making and support growth initiatives. With a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and organizational development, this leader plays a central role in elevating performance, strengthening client relationships, and positioning the company for continued success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for all operational aspects of a large, geographically diverse portfolio of multifamily residential properties.
  • Lead, develop, and support operations leaders across all levels of the organization, with direct responsibility for managing a team of Senior Regional and Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Align operational initiatives with corporate objectives by actively contributing to the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and operational support teams to ensure the successful execution of business plans and deliver exceptional results.
  • Oversee and continuously review standardized operating procedures and performance metrics across the portfolio, ensuring best practices are implemented to maximize efficiency and performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses, risk assessments, and market research to identify growth opportunities and mitigate potential challenges.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of macroeconomic trends, submarket dynamics, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to inform strategic decisions.
  • Proactively identify operational challenges and present timely, effective solutions to the President and other key stakeholders.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo, anticipating future needs and driving the innovation required to keep BH agile, competitive, and positioned for long‑term growth and excellence.
  • Collaborate with clients and Business Development to cultivate new business opportunities, develop pitch materials, and lead critical pitch conversations across the organization and with external partners.
  • Travel 60% or as needed to meet business needs.

You Have

  • 15+ years of experience in multifamily real estate operations, with a demonstrated ability to lead geographically diverse portfolios.
  • Proven success operating within both owner‑operated and third‑party management models , bringing a sophisticated understanding of varied stakeholder priorities and operational structures.
  • A minimum of 10 years in senior leadership roles , with a strong record of developing high‑performing, distributed teams and shaping organizational culture at scale.
  • Exceptional analytical and project management skills, with a proven ability to interpret data and use data to drive performance outcomes.
  • Executive‑caliber communication and influence skills , capable of engaging credibly with clients, investors, and cross‑functional leaders on complex operational and strategic matters.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and executing long‑range plans that advance organizational objectives, strengthen competitive positioning, and support sustainable growth.
