We’re Hiring: Project-Based Consultant – Copy-editors (English)

DScholar Research Consultancy and Analytics (OPC) Private Limited invites applications for the position of Copy-editor (Project-Based Consultant) to support its publishing unit, DSCHOLAR PRESS INTERNATIONAL , in the copy-editing of English-language research papers, reports, conference proceedings and academic books.

If you have a strong command of the English language, an academic background in language, and a keen eye for detail, we encourage you to apply.

This is a remote, project-based consultancy role. Assignments will be allocated based on availability and suitability.

Key Responsibilities

Language Editing:
Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax. Eliminate typographical and structural errors to ensure clarity and fluency.

Citation & Consistency:
Ensure consistent use of terms, spelling (British/American), references, and formatting styles as per journal/book requirements.

Structural Enhancements:
Improve sentence flow and paragraph structure while maintaining the author’s original tone and meaning.

• Content Checks:
  Identify repeated or missing content and flag obvious factual or citation inconsistencies.
• Academic Sensitivity:
  Ensure that the tone and style are suitable for academic publishing.

Feedback & Coordination:
Communicate with the editorial team regarding queries and recommended edits when needed.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirement:
  • Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in English Language, English Literature, Linguistics, or related disciplines from a recognised university.
• Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in academic or research copy-editing.
  • Familiarity with referencing styles such as APA, MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Freshers may also apply
• Skills Required:
  • Excellent written English and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, especially in using Track Changes.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

Compensation

Payment will be processed every month per project, following submission and editorial approval.

Work Mode

• Flexible timing, based on manuscript deadlines.
• Work will be assigned based on project availability and copy-editor performance.

Mode of Selection

Initial Interview:
To assess your academic background, language skills, and suitability for handling copy-editing tasks independently.

Technical Assignment:
A practical editing test to evaluate your copy-editing accuracy, attention to detail, and understanding of academic tone and structure.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the interview.
Candidates who successfully clear the interview will be given a technical assignment as the final step in the selection process.
