About This Role
Audible is seeking a Director, Multi-Format Production to lead the creative and operational execution of Audible’s most ambitious and innovative audio projects. Reporting to the Head of Regional Content, North America, you will oversee the team responsible for the high‑quality production and delivery of multi‑cast audio dramas, investigative non‑fiction series, live performances, podcasts, and other hybrid audio‑first storytelling formats. The role combines deep creative judgment with disciplined production management, requiring a background in directing, producing, or sound design of complex, multi‑layered audio productions.
Responsibilities
- Lead creative and operational execution for Audible’s multi‑format storytelling slate, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of craft, collaboration, and production excellence
- Oversee end‑to‑end production of all multi‑format projects, managing timelines, budgets, staffing, and creative delivery
- Provide creative oversight and leadership to both internal and external producers, directors, and sound designers, ensuring every project achieves the highest level of storytelling and sound design
- Collaborate closely with Creative Development and Studios leadership to translate creative concepts into executable production plans that balance ambition with feasibility
- Own production budgets, ensuring financial sustainability without compromising quality
- Lead and develop a team of producers, sound designers, and technical specialists, fostering an inclusive, high‑performance creative culture
- Champion audio‑first storytelling, setting creative standards for performance, sound design, and narrative innovation
- Drive innovation in format and form, exploring new techniques in spatial sound, live performance, and cross‑platform storytelling
- Represent Audible externally with creative and production partners, helping attract top‑tier talent and collaborators
Basic Qualifications
- Experience owning creative input, development and execution from concept to completion
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C‑level executives and cross‑functional teams
- 8+ years of experience in audio, film, or television production, with a focus on scripted or sound‑rich storytelling
- Proven success as a director, producer, or supervising sound designer on complex, multi‑cast or multi‑location productions
- Experience in production scheduling, budgeting, and vendor management
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in sound design, post‑production, and narrative structure for audio
- Experience leading multi‑disciplinary creative teams in high‑volume production environments
- Creative and strategic thinker who can identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
- Production experience across a variety of mediums
- Familiarity with union and non‑union production environments
- Passion for immersive storytelling, performance, and the evolution of the audio medium

Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $99,800 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,500 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation.
