Summary
Repairs and maintains outside plant telecommunications facilities by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Construct and maintain outside plant cables to applicable corporate and industry standards. Troubleshoot and repair cable faults when necessary. Assist with construction projects as required. Outside Plant Construction
Receive, review, plan and complete construction of OSP facilities based on engineering prints. Document and track sequentials from cable (copper and fiber) and submit material charge out sheet with as built print. Document and track any poles or pedestals set and submit a material charge out sheet with as built print. Red line as built print, check off all units and document any necessary changes. Outside Plant Maintenance
Support I&R when necessary on cable troubles turned in daily from Customer Service Technicians or Test Desk. Maintain all outside plant cables and report any irregularities or required construction to Outside Plant Manager/Engineer Manager. Locate buried plant facilities as required. Other Duties
Operate vehicles requiring Class “A” CDL with airbrake endorsement. Splice both copper and fiber facilities as required. Work aloft in bucket truck, on pole climbers, extension ladders or work on aerial crew. Choice of bucket use, pole climbers or extension ladders is performed at the employee’s choice as long as can be safely performed. Equipment is assigned accordingly. Operate ditch witch cable plow or work on underground crew as required. Work in manhole system using proper gear and procedures as required. Assist Materials Management Department and Building & Grounds department as needed. Assist Customer Service Technicians with installs/troubles as needed. Assist Outside Plant Manager as required. Serve as emergency call-out staff as required. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by the needs of the company. Work with contractors and communicate any concerns with contractor work to Director of Operations. Performance Expectations
Complete construction projects in a timely, efficient, and safe manner. Maintain a clean work station and clean, well stocked truck. Maintain and perform routine maintenance on OSP equipment. Follow all Safety rules and guidelines. Maintain strict confidentiality when encountering any information regarding other employees or customers personal information. “see education and experience section of description” Supervisory Responsibilities

Two years of related telecommunications construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Training or Experience: Formal training/certificate in Telephony theory, principles and practice. Basic Electricity, Grounding and Bonding. Splicing/Color Code theory of both copper and fiber optic cables. Expertise in meters such as TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer), OTDR (Optical TDR), Ohm meter, Volt meter, Fault locator meter and Fiber Optic fusion splicer. Computer Skills
