NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires 3 days a week in our Phoenix, AZ office.

Responsibilities / Job Duties

Advocacy Campaign Management:

Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of high-impact advocacy and education campaigns to promote AAA’s policy positions and key business initiatives (e.g., road safety, impaired driving prevention, Slow Down, Move Over).

Own the project management cycle for all advocacy efforts, managing the process from initial planning and analysis through implementation and comprehensive post-campaign review.

Lead and mentor a direct report focusing on advocacy and public affairs campaigns.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

Foster and maintain relationships with a wide range of external partners, including advocacy coalitions, member organizations, and grassroots partnerships across AAA MWG footprint.

Partner with internal teams (e.g., Marketing, Road Service, Internal Communications) on key initiatives to create compelling narratives and messaging (fact sheets, talking points, social media content) that resonate with diverse audiences across traditional, digital, and social media channels.

Strategic Planning and Operations:

Manage advocacy programs for AAA MWG, leveraging Foundation research to increase awareness and campaign analytics to track effectiveness.

Deliver metric insights and recommendations to the Government Affairs Director to help strategize the path forward and allocate resources effectively.

Knowledge And Skills

Proven experience leading the strategy, development, and implementation of advocacy campaigns (traditional, digital, and social media).

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive writing and compelling narrative development for diverse audiences.

Proven ability to lead and mentor staff, demonstrating impact and influence.

Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and diverse communities.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to analyze complex information quickly, interpret data, and develop effective advocacy strategies.

Experience with project management and familiarity with advocacy campaign strategies to measure results and effectiveness.

Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, including mentoring staff or managing direct reports.

Knowledge of Public Policy and Government Relations landscape.

Experience with social impact, safety, or transportation issues is a plus.

EDUCATION, COMPETENCIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.

7-10 years of experience in advocacy, public affairs, campaign management, or government relations, with a demonstrated track record of success.
