The Danvers Township Library is in search of a motivated individual to manage the daily operations of our public library. The qualified individual would be required to lead a staff of four and would also be required to oversee all aspects of the library including: administration, budgeting, purchasing materials, and working with our library board. This person must have strong leadership skills, be well organized, and work well with the public. This is a part-time position of 26 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and administer library duties such as circulation, reference, reader’s advisory, children’s services, community services, programming and public information.
  • Develop print and non-print collections, including selection, organization, maintenance, preservation, withdrawal, and disposal of materials either directly or through appropriate delegation.
  • Direct the development, repair, and maintenance of the library building and grounds.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Library Board of Trustees and others as designated.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and materials and participate in Library Trustee Board meetings.
  • Supervise the library staff directly or through appropriate delegation in order to create a harmonious team environment.
  • Prepare a staff schedule.
  • Prepare the annual budget.
  • Work with other state agencies, libraries, and community groups to develop library programs.
  • Direct the training of library staff in technical and administrative library skills.
  • Work with the board regarding personnel actions such as hiring and termination.
  • Establish and maintain personnel records for staff.
  • Fill out necessary reports for federal and state grants.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and professional workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience working in public libraries.
  • Familiar with workflows or a similar system.
