Role Overview Our Sr. Director, Qualitative Research (Senior Moderators) work with Account Managers and Project Managers to lead Qualitative initiatives across a variety of industries. This position requires you to design and facilitate research that captures the customer insights needed to provide client stakeholders direction on their business objectives, then analyze and create report deliverables to share those insights. Most of the engagements will be virtual, but there will be some travel for in-person research. This position is 100% remote (within the United States) with a salary range of $120,000 – $140,000.
Responsibilities Strategic Thought Leadership
Develop creative & thoughtful study designs with account managers and project teams in support of client proposals & pitches
Innovate on qualitative approaches, methodologies and exercises that meet clients’ evolving demands in a competitive market, including speed to insights and showcasing unique thinking
Provide mentorship and share expertise with other members of the qualitative team, fostering a collaborative environment of continuous learning
Contribute to thought leadership, point-of-view pieces and our award-winning blog (escalent.co/thinking/blog)
Research Execution
Skillfully moderate interviews and focus groups, ensuring smooth facilitation and insightful probing
Own Qualitative initiatives from inception to fruition. Includes developing study materials, conducting fieldwork, leading debriefing sessions, crafting in-depth analysis/reports and delivering compelling presentations to clients
Quickly develop rapport and cultivate client relationships through adept management of expectations, adherence to timelines, proactive communication, and strategic guidance in client implications and decision-making
Insights Development
Author and deliver compelling storytelling narratives to embed insight and guidance into clients’ hearts and minds
Effectively partner with creative teams to deliver interactive workshops, video documentaries and more to further socialize insights
Desired Expertise
10+ year’s experience Moderating insightful discussions with B2C and B2B participants (RIVA, Burke, or Research Rockstar coursework/certification a plus)
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional work experience required.
Previous Moderation experience for industries such as Financial Services, Retail Goods & Services, Automotive, Energy, Health / Life Sciences, and Technology – with the ability to flex between different industries in need of Qualitative support
Bonus if bring experience with unique approaches such as Jobs To Be Done or Journey Mapping
Comfortable working with virtual platforms for both live and asynchronous engagements
Comfortable facilitating sessions in-homes, in-office, or in research facilities
Hands-on experience leading end-to‑end qualitative market research projects; skilled in time management /leading and executing multiple workstreams at once
Highly skilled storyteller capable of transcending raw data, with a demonstrated ability to weave insights into a unified narrative to client stakeholders – both verbally and in compelling written deliverables
Requirements
Flexibility to work outside of typical business hours when required; ability to travel domestically and if needed, internationally
Success in this role hinges a great deal on soft skills, including collaboration, communication, empathy, perceptivity, a customer‑forward mindset, and projecting a commanding leadership presence
