Position Title: Ramstein Gospel Music Director / Accompanist.
Job Type: Part-time.
Location: Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
Requirements:
A minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework in music or a related field, or equivalent years of relevant experience in a chapel or church music setting.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience playing keyboard and guitar in a Protestant Gospel or traditional worship environment.
Demonstrated ability to sight-read, arrange, improvise, play, and score music appropriate for Gospel worship services, or the ability to secure qualified volunteer accompanists or subcontracted support for these functions.
The ability to sing and vocally lead congregational and choral music in accordance with Gospel worship norms, or the ability to train or secure qualified volunteers to perform this role.
Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting vocal and instrumental scores, chord charts, and lead sheets appropriate for Gospel music and traditional hymns.
Availability to support weekly worship services, rehearsals, and special services, including holy days, memorial services, funeral services, and combined services.
The ability to collaborate effectively with the assigned Gospel Service Chaplain and Chapel leadership.
Knowledge of and compliance with all applicable copyright laws related to religious music and published materials.
Duties:
Provide overall musical leadership for the Ramstein Gospel Service (RGS), including instrumental accompaniment, vocal leadership, and music program management.
Play piano and/or guitar to accompany the RGS congregation during Sunday worship services, special holidays, holy days, memorial services, funeral services, combined services, and other approved events.
Coordinate with and support the assigned RGS Chaplain in planning, selecting, and executing all worship music.
Select all vocal, prelude, interlude, and postlude music under the direction of the Chaplain.
Arrive at least forty‑five (45) minutes prior to worship services and special events to coordinate with the Chaplain and prepare for worship, and be ready to play or lead no later than fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the service.
Provide approximately fifteen (15) minutes of prelude music, sixty (60) minutes of worship music, and fifteen (15) minutes of postlude music for scheduled worship services.
Conduct and lead one (1) weekly rehearsal of up to 120 minutes to maximize choir and praise team participation.
Recruit, audition, train, and oversee choir members, praise team members, and other music volunteers in coordination with the Chaplain.
Lead the praise team and congregation vocally during worship services, and/or train other volunteers to serve in vocal leadership roles.
Provide arranged, improved, and scored music appropriate for the worship service or Chaplain‑directed program function.
Develop and submit a written annual music plan to the Chaplain, including Holy Days and special celebrations, no later than four (4) weeks prior to the start of each liturgical season or event period.
Ensure all volunteers supporting the RGS music program have completed and signed all required documentation, including non‑disclosure agreements as applicable.
Maintain records of volunteer participation and support the overall management of the RGS music ministry.
Ensure all government‑owned music, instruments, and equipment are properly safeguarded and returned upon completion of contractual services.
Refrain from unauthorized duplication or reproduction of copyrighted music and materials, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
