Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Parish in Hammonton New Jersey is seeking a full-time Director of Liturgy and Music.
Qualifications Active Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
Degree in Choral Conducting or equivalent relevant and meaningful experience directing choirs
Ability to play the organ
Deep knowledge and familiarity with the Rites of the Catholic Liturgy and Tradition
Ability to coordinate the music and liturgy for Holy Week and other Solemn Celebrations in collaboration with the Pastor, other clergy, staff, lay ministers and volunteers.
Responsibilities Directing the parish choir
Growing and developing the parish choir
Developing and growing the parish music ministry
Encouraging, offering and or facilitating liturgical and musical formation to choir members and cantors
Providing music for all Sunday Masses and creating music ministry schedules
Scheduling cantors
Scheduling organists when necessary
Work with Lector and Extraordinary minister coordinators for scheduling
Providing and/or organizing the music for funerals and weddings
Meeting weekly with the pastor
Providing any musical information needed for worship aids
Working collaboratively and appropriately with other staff members
Facilitating the preparation of any binders necessary for various liturgies
Overseeing the musical equipment of the parish.

Love for and ability to work with volunteer choir members
Ability to appreciate the local ecclesial culture while also working with the pastor to fully implement the Church’s liturgy with a deep love of the Church’s Tradition
Strong computer and organizational skills
Willingness to organize and implement a liturgical schedule that is more robust than what may be found in many parishes. Celebration of certain solemnities of the Church which are not obligatory
Integrating the Divine Office into the life of the parish on occasion.
Love for the Church’s musical Tradition, Appreciation and basic proficiency in chant
Appreciation of contemporary music that is in harmony with Tradition.
Must be present for the annual celebration of July 16, the parish patronal feast, or fully prepare for the liturgy, music, and any necessary details if not able to be present.
Bonus Skills Salary will range between 55K – 65K.
