Assistant Director, Nurse Anesthesia Program

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is assistance with all academic and administrative functions of the Nurse Anesthesia Program. It includes oversight of the clinical and simulation lab curriculum, classroom instruction, and student advisement. The Assistant Director reports to the Program Director and performs the duties of the Program Director in their absence.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Director to ensure compliance with the accreditation standards of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA)
- Provide assistance with the administrative responsibilities of the program and assume the Program Director role in their absence.
- Coordinate and monitor the clinical curriculum, including learner assignments, clinical experiences, and clinical evaluations.
- Provide instruction in core nurse anesthesia course content.
- Develop content for the simulation curriculum preparation, including evaluation of competency-based learning.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Director and faculty to provide counseling and assessment of remediation needs of learners.
- Coordinate research and evidence-based practice activities for learners and CRNA faculty.
- Serve on the Admissions Committee for review and selection of candidates for admission.
- Serve on the Curriculum Committee and provide leadership in curriculum development, assessment, and revision to meet COA and CCNE curriculum and learner outcome standards.
Position Requirements
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP) from an institution of higher education that is accredited by an agency officially recognized by the US Secretary of Education to accredited institution at the time the degree was conferred.
- Current or eligibility for an unencumbered STATE license as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN)
- Current certification or recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a CRNA
- Teaching and academic administrative experience preferred.
