The Opportunity

As a Director of User Experience Design, you and your team will be directly responsible for shaping the experience of Splunks products across the broader ecosystem. Your work will ensure our products deliver insightful, cohesive, and increasingly effortless experiences that scale across jobs, personas, and product lines.

You will be part of the Product Experience (PX) organization, reporting to a Senior Director of User Experience. Our mission is to make user experience a true differentiator for Splunkone that drives customer trust, adoption, and longterm value in a rapidly evolving and competitive market.

In this role, you will work closely with crossfunctional partners across Product Management, Engineering, Research, and other design disciplines to define and communicate a clear design strategy aligned with business goals. You will balance deep UX craft with systemslevel thinking, helping ensure that core product attributessuch as consistency, usability, scalability, and clarityare experienced seamlessly across the Splunk portfolio. As we have recently joined Cisco you will also be key in helping us find opportunities for integrations that bring even more value to customers.

You will draw on realworld experience in change management and culture building to support and mentor a dynamic team as Splunk continues to evolve as part of Cisco. Identifying opportunities for shared value, alignment, and better ways of working will be critical to strengthening our practice and maximizing impact for both customers and employees.

You will be expected to provide handson direction, insight, and coaching at the project and portfolio level, while also delegating effectively and setting clear expectations. As a people leader, you will build, mentor, and inspire your team, while contributing to the broader leadership of the UX organization and its partnerships across the company. As a teammate you will help break down silos and invest in finding ways to improve our shared culture and product experience practice.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of UX design experience in B2B or B2C across regulated industries.
  • 10+ years of leading large UX research or product design teams at enterprisescale organizations.
  • Experience working on classleading products in data analytics, observability, network security, incident management or data visualization.
  • A strong body of researchdriven, customercentered design work that demonstrates success in informing and delivering on meaningful business outcomes (time to value, churn reduction, product adoption, active use, etc).
  • Ability to run and navigate organizational change and lead through moments of ambiguity.
  • Fluency with design tools like Figma, Adobe Suite, Miro, etc., and interest in new ways of working.
  • Experience with global, asynchronous team coordination and management (e.g., timezone accommodations, cultural differences between locations, etc).
  • Ability to influence and impact product direction by being a thoughtful, proactive partner.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate design insights clearly and persuasively across different audiences and at all levels of the organization (including executive level partners).
  • M.A/M.S./Ph.D. or equivalent experience in User Experience Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, User Experience Research, Data Science, or another strongly related field.

The starting salary range posted for this position is $230,100.00 to $325,300.00 and reflects the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation*, equity, or benefits.

Individual pay is determined by the candidates hiring location, market conditions, jobrelated skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. For locations not listed below, the recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.

U.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Ciscos plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and longterm disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.

U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Ciscos policies:

  • 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for nonexempt employees.
  • 1 paid day off for employees birthday, paid yearend holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco.
  • Nonexempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for fulltime employees.
  • Exempt employees participate in Ciscos flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations).
  • 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next.
  • Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members.
  • Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer.

For nonsales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Ciscos policies.

Employees on sales plans earn performancebased incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and nonquota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quotabased incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

  • .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota.
  • 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%.
  • 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%.
  • Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For nonquotabased sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
