JOB SUMMARY Clemson University’s Regional Development Team seeks a Regional Director of Development – North East. The Regional Director will operate remotely in the Northeastern United States, supporting the University Development Team and Advancement Division.
Serves as Regional Director of Development for the Northeastern U.S. region in a remote capacity.
Collaborates with the Senior Director of Regional Development to create and implement a regional major gift strategy.
Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gifts from university‑wide Northeastern U.S. alumni, parents, and friends.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES 80% – Essential – Fundraising:
Manage a portfolio of major‑gift prospects (up to 150). Cultivate prospects through 15–18 visits per month, raise a minimum of $1.25 million annually, and create strategic prospect plans. Maintain accurate donor data in the central database.
10% – Essential – Strategic Collaboration:
Build relationships within the Advancement Division and other stakeholders to advance Clemson’s philanthropic priorities across the Northeastern U.S. Assist with strategic stewardship of assigned donors.
10% – Essential – Stewardship and Engagement:
Coordinate donor cultivation, stewardship, and engagement opportunities, including event planning related to development activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree.
1–3 years of experience in alumni engagement, fundraising, business development, sales, or communication.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
3–5 years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated ability to close six‑figure and seven‑figure gifts.
RESPONSIBILITIES Fundamental job knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to major gift development. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities. Ability to travel ≈ 50% (overnight and day).
WORK SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION Standard Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Remote work (Out‑of‑State). Expected salary range: $97,417 – $120,000. Salary determined by candidate’s experience, skills, and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.
