to fill a Finance Director position with a long-standing presence in the community and a strong reputation for delivering impactful services. Position Summary The Finance Director provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all financial, budgeting, and accounting functions including leading a finance team of eight. This role is responsible for managing a
$15M annual budget
across a complex nonprofit accounting structure with multiple funding sources. The Finance Director serves as a key strategic partner to executive leadership and the Board, translating financial data for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Provide strategic oversight of all financial and accounting operations
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Prepare and monitor monthly financial statements and reconciliations
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
Develop, implement, and revise financial policies and procedures
Lead annual agency-wide and program-specific audits
Oversee grant and contract financial reporting and negotiations
Maintain strong working relationships with auditors, funders, and the Board
Supervise, coach, and develop finance staff
Develop benchmarks, projections, and meaningful financial reports
Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term strategic planning
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or higher (required)
Minimum of 4 years of progressive nonprofit or government accounting experience (required)
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and full-cycle bookkeeping
Experience with grant budgeting, reporting, and compliance
Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Ability to present complex financial data to non-financial audiences
Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to lead and mentor finance teams with high ethical standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and recordkeeping abilities

Ability to pass a criminal background check
