Teens On The Go (Bike Camp) Director
The City of Lake Forest is looking for a qualified adult to direct Teens on the Go (Bike Camp) for the Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department. Prospective directors must show strong leadership skills, independent functioning, and a passion for working with children, have a team mentality and be positive role models for both staff and youth in the community. Prospective directors are also expected to own their own bicycle and safety gear, have a knowledge of riding a bicycle and bicycle safety. The Teens on the Go schedule is Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm. Directors are expected to arrive early for set-up and stay after 3:00pm for clean-up as needed, and are paid for 40 hours per week. Responsibilities include developing a lesson plan for an 8 week summer camp. Daily bike routes, sites to see, fun destinations and activities. Ride 15-20 miles a day! Attend and assist in camp training. Help with daily set-up and take-down as needed. Enforce department and camp rules and regulations. Provide a safe and friendly environment for staff and campers. Evaluate staff and hold accountable for job expectations. Foster the growth of staff. Provide excellent customer service to parents and children enrolled in summer camp. The camp season runs from June 8th to August 14th. Mandatory Staff Training dates are TBD.

Additional setup and cleanup times. Knowledge, skills & abilities: Experience working with children, specifically, in a school or camp environment is preferred. Experience and/or education on cycling skills and safety. Must be able to work in a team environment. Willingness to work additional hours is a plus. Ability to work up to 40 hours a week. Understanding of a sound recreation philosophy. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong leadership skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Requirements: High School Diploma/GED. College credit or Degree preferred. Able to lift 50 lbs. Must pass background check.
