Overview A national healthcare supply chain and services organization is seeking an experienced
Assistant Vice President, Pharmacy Strategic Partnerships
to lead high-impact pharmacy initiatives, specialty program optimization, and external strategic partnerships.
This executive-level role focuses on creating value through collaboration with pharmacy leadership, member organizations, suppliers, and service partners. The AVP will play a critical role in expanding non-acute and specialty pharmacy initiatives, supporting sourcing strategies, and driving measurable financial and operational outcomes.
This position is best suited for a
pharmacist executive with deep specialty pharmacy operations experience
and a strong background in large health systems, managed care, home infusion, or specialty pharmacy environments.
Responsibilities Strategic Partnerships & Leadership
Lead development and optimization of pharmacy strategic partnerships, including specialty pharmacy programs, services, technology, and supplier relationships.
Serve as a senior advisor to pharmacy leadership on partnership strategy, value creation, and execution.
Mentor and develop senior pharmacy leaders and cross-functional teams.
Represent pharmacy services in external engagements and high-level stakeholder discussions.
Specialty Pharmacy Programs
Provide day-to-day leadership for specialty pharmacy program optimization.
Collaborate with internal teams to assess operational impacts of sourcing, PBM, and business changes.
Partner with external specialty pharmacy organizations to ensure program performance and sustainability.
Support onboarding of new specialty pharmacy participants.
Drive analytics development to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Lead issue resolution across internal and external stakeholders.
Consulting & Client Engagement
Lead or participate in senior-level consulting engagements as needed.
Define program vision, milestones, and success metrics for complex initiatives.
Lead executive-level presentations and facilitate strategic decision-making.
Build trusted relationships with C-suite leaders by presenting industry trends and best practices.
Contribute to service line growth, solution development, and go-to-market strategies.
Support sales efforts and development of executive-facing collateral (e.g., case studies, white papers).
Financial & Analytics Leadership
Interpret and analyze financial performance data from members, suppliers, and internal teams.
Identify pharmacy cost-saving opportunities and track performance against goals.
Support audits and compliance initiatives related to pharmacy services.
Utilize advanced analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to evaluate trends and inform recommendations.
Project & Program Management
Lead multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
Develop and execute detailed project plans with defined milestones and outcomes.
Lead cross-functional working groups to consensus and contract implementation.
Assign goals to direct reports and monitor achievement.
Qualifications Required
Pharmacist degree (PharmD or RPh)
Active pharmacy license in good standing
Minimum of 10 years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience in pharmacy supply expense management, consulting, or group purchasing environments
Demonstrated specialty pharmacy operations experience
(required)
Examples include physician clinics, home infusion, managed care, or specialty pharmacy.
Preferred
Residency, fellowship, or board certification
Experience in non-acute or specialty pharmacy expansion initiatives
Health system leadership experience within large, complex organizations
Strong background in supplier negotiations and sourcing strategy support
