This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Information Technology.

The mission of the Office of Technology in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide innovative, reliable, and secure technology solutions that support the Department's operations and strategic goals.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES

Customer Service Excellence:

Assist the DCIO in ensuring high-quality OIT services with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Calendar and Meeting Management:

Manage the DCIO’s calendar, coordinate meetings, and handle correspondence to keep the DCIO informed and organized.

Issue Tracking:

Maintain a list of ongoing issues, update the DCIO and Bureau Chief, and ensure timely follow-up on pending items.

Action Item Follow-Up:

Track and report the completion of tasks and projects under the DCIO’s responsibility, recommending process improvements.

Report Preparation:

Draft and submit required reports to the legislature and agency executives using Microsoft products.

Travel Coordination:

Assist the DCIO with travel arrangements, reimbursements, and STMS.

Communication:

Relay key information from program areas to OIT employees, including emergency management activities.

Administrative Support:

Coordinate office supply orders, maintain operational guides, assist with procurement and contract management, and handle general OIT help requests.

Beginning July 1, 2024, there is no longer a reemployment limitation; beginning with the 7th calendar month from the member's distribution date, there are no restrictions on working for an FRS employer. You will not be required to repay any prior distributions, and you may continue receiving distributions from the Investment Plan or Pension Plan without interruption.

REQUIREMENTS Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Must possess two (2) years of experience with Microsoft office products including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Must possess one (1) year of experience working as an administrative assistant or showing the aptitude to handle the job tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with state agency office management duties such as ordering and tracking IT products and services, processing invoices, and travel planning.

Preference given to candidates with state agency human resource management experience.

Preference given to college degree or other higher education.

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
