Director of Quantitative UX Research
We are passionate about creating exceptional traveler and partner experiences through data‑driven insights. Our User Experience Research team plays a critical role in shaping the future of global travel by uncovering what matters most to our customers. We are looking for a Director of Quantitative UX Research to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of quantitative and mixed‑methods research across our portfolio of products. This is an opportunity to influence decisions at scale and elevate the rigor and impact of research across the organization.
In This Role You Will
Define the roadmap for measuring customer experiences across Expedia Group products.
Partner with senior leadership to investigate drivers of customer experience changes, instrumentation strategies, and frameworks that quantify experience quality.
Ensure research insights are tied to business metrics and used to forecast, predict, and guide product direction.
Advance methodological excellence in survey design, psychometrics, and behavioral modeling.
Build scalable systems for durable insights, including reusable datasets, benchmarks, and predictive models.
Collaborate with Data Science and Experimentation teams to align statistical standards and develop new techniques for understanding experience quality at scale.
Champion triangulation by pairing quantitative data with qualitative insights to tell complete, human‑centered stories.
Grow and mentor a global team of quantitative and mixed‑method researchers, defining clear skill paths and promoting growth.
Represent quantitative research internally and externally through thought leadership and best practice evangelism.
Minimum Qualifications
15+ years of relevant professional experience without an advanced degree, or 5–10 years with a suitable advanced degree, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in thought and domain leadership within quantitative research.
Strong expertise in data modeling, measurement science, and survey design.
Demonstrated ability to lead high‑performing research teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Experience building scalable research systems and frameworks that connect insights to business outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, or a related field.
Experience partnering with design, product, and data science teams in a global organization.
Familiarity with advanced statistical techniques, behavioral modeling, and experimentation frameworks.
Track record of publishing thought leadership and contributing to the research community.
Compensation The total cash range for this position in Austin is $224,000.00 to $313,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $358,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
The total cash range for this position in New York is $242,000.00 to $338,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $387,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $224,000.00 to $313,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $358,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
