Senior Director of Alumni and Student Engagement, University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA)
The mission of the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA) is to enhance and advance the relationship between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and all its alumni; to inspire lifelong loyalty and pride among alumni and friends by strengthening their relationship with the University; and to educate the public about the value of the University and its alumni.
ABOUT THIS ROLE The Senior Director of Alumni and Student Engagement will report to the Vice President of Engagement. The position oversees alumni engagement-focused efforts, including the alumni clubs program, the alumni travel program, and in-person and online alumni events. The role is responsible for young alumni and student-focused engagement, designing events and programs for young alumni and current students, advising Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA), and ensuring with UIAA’s engagement strategy.
This hybrid role requires two days per week in Urbana and remote three days per week, with occasional travel and work outside regular business hours.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute a young alumni engagement strategy, overseeing planning, promotion, and execution of all young alumni engagement initiatives and tailoring general alumni engagement opportunities to young alumni.
Oversee planning, promotion, and execution of all general student engagement initiatives, incorporating students into alumni-focused events and programs.
Serve as the advisor for SAA, setting priorities, administering the SAA budget, attending SAA meetings, and integrating SAA into UIAA programs.
Lead UIAA Homecoming efforts, coordinating with the President and Vice President of Engagement, overseeing key Homecoming events, and maintaining relationships with University partners.
Act as liaison to the Board’s Alumni and Student Engagement Committee and Awards Committee, coordinating meetings and engagement opportunities.
Supervise the engagement team, setting priorities, evaluating efforts, managing budgets, developing professional development, and representing UIAA at events.
Supervise the Director of Alumni Clubs and Engagement, the Associate Director of Alumni Experiences, and the Assistant Director of Online Engagement, providing oversight of programs and logistics.
Participate in weekly UIAA operations meetings, ensuring alignment of engagement programs with UIAA initiatives.

Staff evaluations and professional development plans for direct reports
JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum 5 years of experience in alumni relations or a closely related area, preferably in higher education.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of UIAA’s mission and objectives.
Demonstrated project management, process assessment, and improvement skills.
Strong organization, attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
Preferred: student advising experience, event/meeting/program planning experience, volunteer management experience.
EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/26/2026. Salary range is $110,000 to $120,000.
