Overview and Responsibilities Seeking a dynamic and well‑versed Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead annual budget, monthly forecasts, and long‑range planning for News. The Director of FP&A is an important member of the organization, reporting to the SVP of News Finance. This role collaborates with multiple stakeholders to provide detailed analysis across the organization’s platforms, including Linear and Digital. The Director will coordinate with the functional executive team on all costs, including labor and non‑labor, and is expected to develop a deep awareness of the organization. The Director of FP&A will have supervisory responsibilities, delivering constructive evaluations and feedback, mentoring, and supporting team members’ professional development.
Lead annual budget, monthly forecast, and long‑range strategic planning
Provide insights to senior management around financial modeling, forecasts, and profitability
Provide detailed variance analysis and commentary to senior management
Oversee talent compensation, capital forecast, and operations for both network news and stations
Prepare business cases to support new investment, strategic, and other business decisions
Work closely with Executive Producers in relation to tracking costs of major news events and political coverage
Support the Finance team and the Production team with ad hoc requests
Self‑starter who can tackle multiple concurrent projects and adapt quickly to new information
Identify business trends and make recommendations
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
Collaborate cross‑functionally with editorial, production, operations, corporate finance, and accounting
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Economics
Minimum 10+ years in Finance; media/entertainment/digital focus preferred
Strong knowledge of corporate finance concepts and accounting principles
Exceptional Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling skills
Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies; TM1, Oracle, and SAP experience is a plus
Additional Qualifications
Strategic thinker with robust business acumen
Ability to multitask and work seamlessly across numerous projects/work‑streams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail with robust problem‑solving and critical thinking ability
Additional Information Hiring salary range: $135,000.00 – $165,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO, or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
