Overview The Craft Academy at Morehead State University is a highly visible, mission‑critical leadership opportunity that leads a residential program for over 200 students during their junior and senior years of high school, while they concurrently undertake university coursework. The position is eligible for the KTRS state pension system or an optional 401(k) plan and a competitive salary.
Anticipated start date is negotiable, preferably no later than July 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
Provide academic and operational leadership for approximately 18 staff members and over 200 students.
Ensure academic excellence, curricular alignment, and student recruitment/retention.
Oversee residential life, activities, and financial management of the Academy.
Plan and execute graduation exercises and overall student success experience.
Supervise university school‑based services in the region and foster innovative workforce talent opportunities beyond the Academy’s current scope.
Report directly to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Requirements
Master’s Degree in a STEM+H area, education, or a related field.
Documented administrative leadership experience in an educational setting, including strategic planning, staffing, operations, financial resource allocation, curricular alignment, and student outcomes.
Prior experience as a director or assistant director in a similar academy, assistant principal, principal, or equivalent supervisory role in postsecondary education.
Familiarity with high‑ability, high‑achieving high‑school students.
Strong people skills, ability to handle student situations, and interact effectively with students, staff, parents, and administrative offices.
Ability to engender respect and trust across multiple groups and exercise sound judgment in a leadership capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
STEM/technical/polytechnical experience.
Experience with workforce talent pipelines.
Terminal degree relevant to the Academy.
