Job Description The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking a Financial Aid Specialist (CL1) to support the Office of Student Financial Services.

This is a full-time, one-year, fixed-length, on-campus position with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role provides administrative and student-facing support in a fast-paced office environment, requiring strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information. The Financial Aid Specialist plays an important role in supporting students and institutional operations while collaborating with campus partners to meet office deadlines and priorities.

The starting rate for this full-time, on-campus position is $18.13 (non-negotiable) for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee within the ACSUM collective bargaining unit. In addition, the University will contribute up to a 4% matching contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. Required Qualifications

60 credits or more of higher education or equivalent work experience and training.

Three years administrative support experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Maintain confidentiality.

Exceptionally strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Modern office procedures and equipment.

Mathematical concepts.

Basic budgeting principles.

Computers and related software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite).

Communications in multiple modalities (e.g., Zoom).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).

3-5 years of experience required in professional settings, including: strong customer service background, admissions or sales experience, and/or education, tutoring, advising or counseling.

Experience in a higher education setting.

Experience with adult learners.

Experience with teaching best practices and the YourPace pedagogy.

Strong experience with University of Maine System technologies - MaineStreet and educational technologies (e.g., Brightspace) in particular.
