The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) is seeking a highly experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant District Attorney General Pro Tempore in West Tennessee. This position is ideal for a seasoned prosecutor with strong courtroom skills who is ready to take on complex conflict cases and represent the State at a high level.
Role Overview The Assistant District Attorney General Pro Tempore will handle conflict cases across the Western region of Tennessee, exercising sound discretion in case evaluation and leading rigorous prosecutions through all stages of the criminal process. The selected candidate will maintain full responsibility for assigned cases, ensure effective courtroom representation, and work closely with victims, witnesses, and law enforcement partners.
This role requires travel throughout West Tennessee and occasional travel to Nashville and other parts of the state.
Baseline Responsibilities
Exercise independent judgment in case evaluation and prosecution
Serve as lead prosecutor through all stages of assigned cases, including jury trials
Represent the State in all required court appearances
Build rapport with victims and witnesses
Foster strong working relationships with law enforcement agencies across jurisdictions
Handle conflict cases with professionalism and discretion
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD)
Licensed to practice law in Tennessee
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive first-chair jury trial experience in criminal or circuit court
Compensation
Annual Salary range: $100,000 – $170,000
Salary will be commensurate with experience and aligned with the statutory Assistant District Attorney General pay scale.
